Afognak Native Corporation is committed to the increase of shareholder hire. Employment opportunities are available through full-time and seasonal employment with Afognak/Alutiiq, LLC. The Alutiiq website offers a full listing of current job openings within Afognak Native Corporation and its subsidiaries, and is updated daily.
Shareholder Development provides shareholders and descendants with assistance in resume writing, completing employment applications, career counseling and conducting mock interviews. Talent Bank
In order to link Afognak Native Corporation shareholders and descendants up with employment opportunities Afognak is distributing a Talent Bank Form. The information gathered from the Talent Bank Form is placed in a database to track shareholders and descendants education and work history.
This database is used by Shareholder Development to link qualified shareholders and descendants up with employment opportunities within and outside the corporation. Shareholders and descendants are encouraged to complete a Talent Bank Form if:
- They have not already submitted a form, or
- They have additional work and/or educational experience that they would like reflected in the database.

Ataku Manager Program
Afognak Native Corporation's Ataku (Later On) Manager Program is a two year full-time program designed to provide Afognak Native Corporation Shareholders and descendants with the skills and knowledge base necessary to secure managerial level positions within an Alaska Native Corporation or other business environment. Although employment with Afognak or its subsidiaries is not guaranteed after graduation from the program, it is anticipated that through concentrated training and mentoring, the Ataku Manager will be prepared to assume a managerial level position within the Corporation or another organization after successfully completing the program. The Ataku Manager can work in one of the following areas: finance, construction, human resources, legal, bid and proposals, or information technology.
The Ataku Manager will work with an experienced department manager and/or director to learn the systems, policies and procedures, and managerial philosophy of the Corporation. The Ataku Manager will be responsible for supporting regular functions in the Ataku Manager's chosen department such as producing reports, monitoring contracts, and completing projects in accordance with contract and departmental requirements and within budget.

High School Intern Program
The Afognak Native Corporation High School Intern program provides four Afognak shareholders and descendants that are going to high school or just graduated from high school, with work experience and an opportunity to explore career options. Through their internship experience, Afognak Interns will learn about workplace ethics, employment opportunities available through Afognak Native Corporation, the global nature of Afognak and its Alutiiq subsidiaries, and how to excel in a team environment.
Interns can work in the following departments: finance, information technology, legal, construction, human resources, business development/proposal writing, and media relations. High School summer interns are required to work 40 hours per week over a three week period and are based in the Anchorage office. Interns may travel to an Afognak Native Corporation subsidiary location outside of Anchorage.

College Summer Intern Program
The Afognak Native Corporation College Summer Intern Program provides up to two Afognak shareholders and descendants that are going to college with work experience and an opportunity to explore career options. The program is designed to promote shareholder hire.
Interns can work in the following fields: finance, risk management, information technology, legal, construction, human resources, business development/proposal writing, media relations, timer and lands, shareholder services, lands security, physical security, electronic security, project management, and engineering. Available fields vary depending on the Interns work location. Internships are available in the following locations: Anchorage, Kodiak, Chesapeake, Denver, and Huntsville. Review the college summer intern application form for a complete list of departments available to receive interns in each location.
College summer interns are required to work 40 hours a week over a 6 to 12 week period. The number of weeks and the specific dates a summer intern works is determined on a case-by-case basis to accommodate the intern's academic calendar. The pay scale is based on a competitive intern wage. The wage for undergraduate and graduate students depends on experience (D.O.E.). One-time roundtrip airfare may be provided to successful applicants that must travel long distances to their work location. Shareholder Development will examine on a case-by-case basis whether a successful applicant qualifies for one-time roundtrip airfare to his/her intern work location.

College Intern Program
Afognak's Intern Program is designed to build the next generation of Native leaders. We currently offer internships in:
- Accounting
- Construction
- Information Technology
- Operations and Maintenance
- Human Resources
- Legal
Interns attending school with a minimum of 12 credits and working 20 hours a week will receive supplemental pay for 20 hours, a competitive internship wage and a full benefits package including vision, medical, dental and retirement.

Apprentice Program
The goal of the Apprentice program is to provide intensive on-the-job training to two highly motivated shareholders or descendants that are interested in working in pre-mid level positions in one of the areas that Afognak/Alutiiq does business. It is anticipated that through concentrated training and mentoring, the Apprentices will be qualified to enter their chosen fields after one year of on-the-job training.
Apprentices are expected to work full-time (40 hours a week). The length of employment will be determined on a case-by-case basis to accommodate the training needs but will not exceed a one-year period. Participants can work in one of the following departments:
- Accounting
- Construction
- Information Technology
- Operations & Maintenance
- Human Resources
- Business Development
- Lands
- Security
- Logistics
Work location will vary depending on available work and the successful applicants' area of interest. The 2009-2010 Apprentice Program is currently filled. The 2010-2011 Apprentice Program applications will likely be available in August 2010 with an anticipated program start date of October 2010.
